Project Description
Mechanical Fixture Designer for SMT/Module/FATP HWTE stations
Need for contract extension will be reviewed one month prior to the end date
Candidate Background Requirements
Fluent English in speaking, listening, reading and writing
Proficient in MCAD tools for designing and evaluating 3D & 2D MCAD
Experience with mechanical tolerance analysis, GD&T, mechanical fabrication methods and mechanical design of fixtures and mechanisms
Experience with mechanical control systems is desirable
Ability to travel to Cupertino, CA and to collaborate with HWTE and design teams and/or to Shanghai and/or Shenzhen, China
Key responsibilities
Fixture Design and Development
Design and optimize test fixtures in partnership with the Fixture Design Lead and Station DRI to meet test coverage requirements
Conduct and communicate DFM feedback between the CM, vendor and Fixture Design Lead
Complete mechanical tolerance analysis using GD&T
Hold design reviews for peer, safety and ergonomics feedback
Track and report open issues and progress with radars and emails
Coordinate logistics for fixture vendors, CM, and others, when applicable
(Potential) Co-develop new test stations with fixture design team.
Station Bring-up
Support mechanical OQC during the vendor design and build phase
Verify mechanical functionality and maintenance of the test station
Setup including test stations in Cupertino dry runs and/or factory lines in China
FA and root cause fixture issues while simultaneously providing recommendations for mechanical design improvements
Review station SOP documentation and provide input/feedback for mechanical content
Evaluate station mechanical performance and provide summary of mechanical issues or recommended improvements to the Fixture Design Lead
Train and manage hand-off to CM ME in partnership with the Fixture Design ME Lead
Capable of sustaining the test station during engineering builds and to conduct DOEs to optimize station performance
Mechanical Debug and Risk Assessment
Create Radars to track all mechanical design, de-bug and DFM issues with unfamiliar station
Report the following back to the Fixture Design Lead in real time
Confirmation of IQC mechanical compliance
Station bring-up, mechanical status and results
Root cause investigation results with failure rate, symptoms
Feedback and next steps for the system
Reporting
Two reports needed each week by the ME Fixture Designer or vendor PM
Reports may be separate or integrated
Will provide accurate and complete account of work and hours logged
